Our little pumpkins

During October, we made a common family field trip to the Apple Orchard to pick out our pumpkins.  Victoria just loved running through the 50 yard sea of orange.  She would stop about every 5 pumpkins and say “this one, we need this one”.  In the end we found 4 perfect pumpkins for our family of four.  We then went inside and checked out all of their other goodies.  The apple orchard in Jordan has SO many fun things inside to browse.  We ended up buying some different muffin mixes, brats, salsas and hot sauces as well.  All homemade and delicious J

A Monster Princess and a Ladybug

For months after seeing Toy Story 3, Victoria kept saying that she wanted to be a Cowgirl for Halloween.  She wanted cowboy boots, a hat and she kept telling us that cowgirls say “yee-haw”.  I thought I would get ahead of the game and got her an adorable plaid shirt, boots and a fun cowboy hat.  Then she changed her mind to a princess, then more specifically a princess in a castle.  This summer I had bought a cute little Barbie princess dress at a garage sale, so I thought ok if that’s what she wants to be, no biggie, I got it covered.  Then she started mentioning “monsters”.  It’s her new obsession.  Her game is to say “I’m scared Mommy”, I then respond with “Don’t worry, Mommy will protect you”.  When I ask her what she’s scare of, she says “the monsters, they’re scary!!!”  Then she cuddles in and I “protect” her.  J  When I kept asking her what she was going to be from Halloween, she settled on a “monster” and there was no changing her mind.  So, the Friday before Halloween, 45 min before we were leaving for daycare, she decided that no other costume would do and that she had to be a MONSTER for her daycare Halloween party.  I had no idea what I was going to do for her costume.  I had nothing monsterous for my little girl; we only have pink and flowery things. Finally, I remembered pictures from a friend’s son’s monster birthday party… I decided that I could make her a monster crown.  I found a pink bag, cut it up, added 3 eye balls and wolla we had a monster crown.  Added some cute leggings and a big pink tutu and she was a monster princess!  I thought it would pretty dang cute after I put it all together.  Of course, she insisted on also wearing her leotard and two more tutu’s and she ended up looking like a silly two year old that dressed herself, but she was happy and so was I….we could now leave for daycare…

Our beautiful Miss Marlee was a cute little ladybug.  She didn’t mind her costume one bit, and put up no fight J

Dad’s 50th Birthday

n September 30th, my Dad turned 50!!! On October 2nd, my parents hosted a party at their house to celebrate the momentous occasion. They catered in food that we brought out in courses and paired with a bunch of different kinds of wines. It was a great night filled with lots of family, friends, laughter, smiles and stories. We can’t wait for the next big bash!

I wonder what makes him feel older, turning 50 or having a daughter that is going to turn 30 this year :)

PS. These pictures are taken late in the night, so excuse the exhausted faces!

4 Wonderful Years

On September 30th, Ted and I celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary. Ok, so we actually celebrated it on the Tuesday before our anniversary, but we still celebrated :) Ted and I have always enjoyed going to the theater. In college, we both took a theater class and we would take turns attending each other’s “mandatory” plays. It was SO much fun and something that we like to do whenever possible. On our 1 year (dating) anniversary we went to the Chanhassen Dinner Theater, we thought for our 4th Wedding Anniversary it would be fun to go back. So, with Grandma and Grandpa babysitting our babies, we went into Chanhassen and enjoyed the production of “All Shook Up”. It’s about a girl that falls in love with a boy that plays a guitar. Ha! All too funny huh?

Of course we had a great time and we were ready to go back for another show. Luckily we had a BOGO offer when I bought the tickets, so we purchased tickets to see “I Do I Do” as well. So, in the beginning of October we went back to the theater and watched “I Do I Do”. It’s the longest running play at the Chanhassen Dinner Theater and is a fantastic 2 person show. You follow the lives of a couple in their 50 years of marriage.

If you’ve never had the opportunity to enjoy the Chanhassen Dinner Theater, I recommend checking it out. We love it :)
